Department of Botany was established in 2008. It offers botany as one of the subject with zoology and chemistry at degree level. It includes fundamental botany such as taxonomy, anatomy, plant physiology, plant pathology, cell biology, genetics, Molecular biology, ecology,. Initially started with few students now its full bloomed department. The lab is well equipped with instrument as per requirement of the curriculum. The department is enriched with learning resources such as charts, models, and permanent slides. To enhance the curricular performance of student’s department class test, Assignments, Projects are given to students. Study Tour, Model and seminars, Industrial visit, Guest Lecturer, Botanical Garden visit, were organized by Department as part co-curricular activities. Such activities were preparing the students to face new challenges.

Faculties have expertise in areas such as molecular biology, taxonomy, biotechnology etc. Botany department is actively engaged in various social and environmental awareness activities. The students are regularly participated in inter-collegiate competition organized by various colleges. Regular excursion tours were organizes as a part of curriculum for field experience. Department organizes workshop for farmers and give training on preparation and use of organic manures. The Department has a highly qualified staff. They are actively engaged in teaching as well as research. Dr.S.P.Khodke has completed one major research project sanctioned by UGC. She is recognized research supervisor. We are proudly mention about the Prof. Shilanand Hiwarale second faculty members have cleared NET,SET and GATE exam three times.
